Sinopse:
Byousoku 5 Centimeter (5 centímetros por segundo) é um filme composto por 3 partes, A história gira em torno de dois amigos de infância: Akari e Takaki, que, quando eram pequenos, eram inseparáveis, mas um dia que Akari teve que se mudar por causa dos empregos dos pais.
Na primeira parte do filme, denominada “Oukashou”, eles passam a comunicar por cartas até que Takaki descobre que irá se mudar também, para o canto oposto de Akari no Japão. Sabendo que depois disso seria muito difícil se reverem, eles decidem se encontrar e Takaki vai visitar Akari numa viagem de trem.
Embora possa parecer, Byousoku 5 Centimeter não é uma história romântica estilo água-com-açúcar. As narrativas que são contadas, principalmente na primeira parte do filme, mostram o drama de se estar longe de quem ama.
Como diz o subtítulo do movie, Byousoku 5cm é uma história sobre a distância, tanto física quanto do coração. As outras duas partes, “Cosmonaut” e “Byousoku 5 centimeter” contam como vive Takaki depois de adolescente e finalmente adulto.
